Notice of Rate Adjustments

The CRTC established a regime that regulates the price cap (Telecom Decision CRTC 2002-43) of certain business services. The regime provides the principles to encourage free competition between the telecommunication service providers. As part of the regime, TELUS informs its business clients of the price changes approved by the CRTC based on the two orders explained below.
 

Telecom Orders CRTC 2006-180 and CRTC 2006-174

The monthly pricing changes affect certain business clients who subscribe to single-line, multiline and Centrex access lines as well as certain other services. The new pricing is included in the table below based on the rate band of each access line. See the pdf list of the telephone exchanges to find out which rate band is linked to the pricing change applicable to your business. The pricing changes come into effect on August 1st.

After reviewing the table above, it is interesting to note that clients who use TELUS as their long distance provider and those who have signed a contract receive a significant discount.
 

Here is a list of the other services affected by the order and whose pricing has changed since August 1st:

Increase of 10% in the rate of directory listings for business services;

Approximate increase of 10% in the rate of the Intra-exchange distance charges;

9.87% increase in the rate for tie-lines;

Decrease ranging from 15.5% to 19.05% in the pricing of Direct Inward Dialing;

Increase of 6.67% in the rate of Operator services – Directory Assistance;

Increase of 10% to both the basic charges and the per-mile charges of the Inter-exchange distance charges;

Increase of 10% in the rate of the channels for Data Transmission – point of service conditioning ;

Increase of 10% in the rate of the ProxiRéseau Service access and per-mile charge (128 kbps and more);

Approximate increase of 10% in the rate of the Inter-exchange Digital Private Line Services DS-0, DS-1 and DS-3 for adjoining exchanges;

Approximate decrease of 8% for the basic charges and per-mile charges for DS-0 and DS-1, and decrease of approximately 54 percent for DS-3 (inter-exchange Digital Private Line Services for non-adjoining exchanges);

Increase of 10% in the monthly rate for the ISDN-BRI service.
