Forbearance from regulation of some business local exchange services

Since January 31, 2008, the rates and most terms and conditions associated with some business local exchange services offered in some exchanges are no longer regulated by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The affected local exchange services are henceforth provided in a truly competitive market (as is the case for long distance, wireless and Internet services), which offers you greater flexibility in selecting the services and rate plans that meet your needs.

CRTC’s requirements with regard to continued service
Please note that the CRTC has directed TELUS to maintain certain requirements, such as the provision of telephone directories and the maintenance of customer confidentiality provisions, in the provision of local business exchange services in forborne areas.

Fixed term contracts

Although TELUS’ General Tariff provisions governed by the CRTC no longer apply to the services that are forborne from regulation, if you have signed a fixed term contract (one year or more), the terms and conditions of your current contract, including the limitation of liability , early termination charges and other terms and conditions, apply for the remainder of your term.

Terms and conditions acceptance for business local exchange services provided on a monthly basis

If you are a subscriber of business local exchange services used on a monthly basis that are forborne from regulation, please find enclosed the new terms and conditions that apply to your services and which replace the General Tariff provisions, governed by the CRTC, and applicable to regulated services.  Please read them carefully. By using these forborne business local exchange services provided on a monthly basis you accept the new terms and conditions.
